Community Update No.9

14SEP19 1943 hrs UTC+1

We welcome all of the new recruits who have recently joined us and congratulate those new privates who have completed the challenge that is Module III - well done! We have quite a few changes happening within the group.

Uniforms across the board are going to be overhauled: new insignia for infantry, fixing some errors the uniforms were throwing, and RAF getting some really nice gucci kit. I suspect more changes and improvements are on the way but we will have to wait for those. We, unfortunately, won't get to try these until another week has passed as tomorrow we won't be using our regular modpack.

No.4 Platoon will be receiving a small organisation change where we are going to reduce the section sizes down to 9 men each and add three men into the Platoon HQ (this is also historically accurate - it was done different ways per platoon). The extra men in the platoon HQ will be an AT team with one additional man to be assigned wherever the Platoon OC needs them.

The Assault Platoon is being dissolved (RIP) but will be reborn! Hurrah! The Assault Section will form under No.4 Platoon as No.3 Section (Assault). This is to facilitate better communication and hierarchy within the group as the Assault Section often found themselves operating under No.4 Platoon anyway.

Weapons Platoon, No.3 Section will be receiving an updated look also. Weapons Platoon itself is a mix of three different historical platoons merged into one (MG, Mortars, and AT) but we are going to be giving No.3 Section their historical ranks of Gunner, Lance Bombardier, and Bombardier (equivalent to Pte, LCpl, and Cpl).

The distinguishing "Support Company" tag that separates the Weapons Platoon from B Company is also going to be removed. This is not historically accurate, nor is the assault platoon being part of No.4 Platoon. However, it is being done for the sake of gameplay and organisation as we are playing with much fewer numbers than the military structure was designed for. This change should also tidy the TeamSpeak 3 server up a bit.

We have a few doctrinal changes for infantry that will be worked through before Market Garden (which may introduce some delays - but we want to do this right). Some changes include formations being referred to as their 100% historically accurate names, where even "Blob" will be taught. We have to still make some adjustments at the higher levels before this gets fully filtered down, but expect this very soon.
