  Personnel Update: Promotions

The following promotions have been made:

Lance Sergeant Carrick has been promoted to Sergeant.

Sgt. Carrick has not changed role; he is the acting troop commander of No.11 Troop.

Recruit Horsman has been promoted to Guardsman. Following his application he has been further promoted, with immediate effect, to Acting Lance Sergeant.

A/LSgt. Horsman is now assigned to the role of Platoon Sergeant of No.11 Troop. He will be commanding 11A Bucccaneer.

Private Patterson has been promoted to Acting Corporal.

A/Cpl. Patterson is now assigned to 1 Section, Section Commander.

Private Mac has been promoted to Lance Corporal.

LCpl. Mac has had his NCO position reinstated after moving from a 2IC position to the 16th (Parachute) Field Ambulance as a medic. He has written a medical document that will be used for medical training in the future.

Private Chandler has been promoted to Acting Lance Corporal.

A/LCpl. Chandler is now assigned to 1 Section, Section Second-in-Command.

Recruit Ross has been promoted to Private.

Pte. Ross is now assigned to 1 Section.

Notes:
LCpl Gustas has been moved from 1 Section to 2 Section. He is in the role of 2IC.

The acting positions that people have acquired mean they are still their original rank but act up to their 'new' rank. The acting position is a trial for their new role as they receive additional training.

For those promoted, please update your Arma 3 in-game name, on TeamSpeak 3, and on Discord. Your names have already been updated on the forums and the XML will be ready for tomorrow.

180912 Community Update
12SEP18, 2038 hrs

I have the aim to keep everyone updated with the unit and the changes that are occurring and this is the first step towards that goal. Community Updates will happen from time to time with important information with events occurring within the unit.

With us recently opening No.11 Troop, C Squadron we wanted to expand to more than 'just' light infantry. Whilst I could very happily continue to play as light infantry all of the time, many people are not of the same frame of mind, and for these people we have considered opening more roles such as those in an assault section and a weapons section.

Barden, Carrick, and I deliberated over how we would add in such roles (as were historically accurate) into the unit - I first thought of adapting No.6 Platoon into a weapons platoon. However, this idea was soon rejected because of the historical inaccuracy. Instead we have opted to 'open' another company but said company will not have a company HQ. The Support Company will use the company HQ from B Company. I will be finishing documentation for the new support company before it officially opens.

Whilst you will see the platoon commander and platoon sergeant roles in the new assault platoon and weapons platoon, we will not be filling these positions. Those positions are there to show that there theoretically are both those roles in those platoons. In the event that no.4 platoon, and either the assault platoon or weapons platoon, grows enough in size then we will then assign these roles accordingly.

An assault platoon consists of a platoon commander, platoon sergeant, runner, 2x AT rifleman, and 3x assault section. An assault section consists of a section commander and 4x rifleman. This makes the entire assault platoon, at full strength, 20 people strong.

The weapons platoon would usually be fully dedicated to either mortars or vickers medium machine guns, however, for the sake of NOT opening another platoon we have opted to have the weapons platoon joint. Both a vickers and mortar section consists of six soldiers, two teams of three. A weapons platoon consists of a platoon commander, platoon sergeant, wireless operator, runner, and an observer, and then two sections - this means the entire weapons platoon, at full strength, is 17 people strong.

Currently, we will only be opening the following roles:
Quote:Support Company, Assault Platoon, 1 Section
  • Section Commander
  • Rifleman
  • Rifleman
  • Rifleman
  • Rifleman

The weapons platoon will not be operational yet due to the lack of a consistent and fixed mortar, and the lack of a need of a vickers (FOR NOW!). No headquarters roles will be available in the support company until the extended growth of the unit.

  74th Anniversary of D-Day

On this day 74 years ago, the invasion of Normandy took place which ultimately resulted in the liberation of the European continent from Nazi Germany. 

In a time where the world seems to be falling apart at the seams due to media reports about everything negative, it is important to remember that our world is currently at the best it has ever been in terms of a global population being free from war and captivity. This has only been made possible by the sacrifice of those who fought on our behalf, both men and women, of all ages.

It is important that we remember this and work together to ensure their memory is not forgotten. 




For our tomorrow, they gave their today.

  Actions on Proposed Community Alterations - 30/05/18

A meeting was held on 30/05/18 to discuss proposed community alterations. These were the results and the following will be or has been actioned:

01 - Use of Attendance Forms

Division personnel will now be required to fill out an attendance form regarding their attendance for the weekend training session and engagement. Attendance will no longer be gathered from forum posts. An attendance form will be included in warning order and patrol order posts. Your section commanders will be in contact with you in the next few days to clarify any question you may have.

02 - Operations and Campaigns

The use of the word "Campaign" will now refer to World War 2 and/or specific campaigns such as the Western European Theatre. Operations will now be a string of "days" and anything not related to an operation, such as a commando raid, will be filed under "other engagements". 

03 - Rank Slide Alterations

Recruits in the division can now be identified with the new rank slide which is plain brown cloth with a purple fabric strip.

04 - Training Alterations

Training will be done on a four-week rota and will be expanded.

Basic training and airborne training will now take place over a three week period with platoon training sessions being held on the forth week. 

Week 1: Basic Training for New Recruits | Section Level Training
Week 2: Airborne Training for New Recruits | Section Level Training
Week 3: Recruit Final Exercise with Rest of Platoon Involved
Week 4: Platoon Training Exercise

05 - Hierarchy to All Ranks

An illustration will be completed in the near future showing the hierarchy of the community based on "Anthony's Triangle". 

06 - Streamlined Information Sources

This post is the start of that. Stay tuned for more. 

07 - War Office Selection Board (WOSB)

May be introduced in the future for the selection of people for Warrant Officer roles. Basically a review and interview board.

08 - Promotions and Award Ceremonies

Promotions will now be "handed out" in-game to mark the beginning of the new appointment or promotion as opposed to just being posted on the forums.

09 - Introduction of the Bomber Role

Bombers are men responsible for rearming men in the field although not in a logistics role. This historically accurate role will now be referred to and used in sections. More information to follow.

10 - Bren Magazines in Loadouts

Loadouts will no longer spawn with spare Bren gun magazines in them. They will need to be retrieved from ammunition stores on the instruction of the section commander. 

11 - References to PTS (Permission to Speak)

All references to PTS have been removed as we don't use it and expect people to be respectful when in group discussion.
