  No.5 Platoon Announcement

No.5 Platoon Announcement

11APR20 0250 hrs UTC+1

Red Devils is growing at an increased rate. This is somewhat due to the current pandemic and people returning from ELOA or from their retirement, however, we also experienced this growth before the pandemic. Despite only just closing Weapons Platoon down in order to centralise our forces we now find ourselves in a position where we will need to expand again. We want to ensure that any changes we make are not done in haste and have been well thought out; I also want to be transparent with any changes that may happen.

Our current plan is to build up to four sections within No.4 Platoon. These sections should be full and should be stable with all members being active. Once we have achieved this and can form a new platoon HQ, No.5 Platoon will be created. With this new platoon, two sections from No.4 Platoon will be - in their entirety - transferred over to No.5 Platoon. After this change, we will operate two infantry platoons each with a platoon HQ and two infantry sections. No.3 Section for each platoon will be introduced as required.

When this change does happen, many personnel will be moving around, and some may be changing roles. With this, please either make applications for any roles you have interest in, or register your interest with Horner via PM ( http://reddevilsarma.org/showthread.php?tid=1035 ). The roles in mind here are NCO positions and platoon HQ positions.

Many possibilities were thought through and many meetings have been held in order to decide which element was best to open. A second infantry platoon that mirrors No.4 Platoon was deemed the best option:
  • no special roles in one platoon over the other
  • keeps the core focus on light infantry
  • ensures no complications are made requiring gliders or special weapons
  • ensures no personnel have hopes for equipment/roles they may not get to operate
Opening another platoon is a big step and is risky, however, I am confident we can remain stable with enough members to run both platoons at the same time. However, necessary steps will be prepared to ensure we remain fully effective should our full potential not be reached with a second platoon where restructuring would have to occur.

No.5 Platoon will require a new Platoon Commander and possibly also a new Platoon Sergeant. Applications for both of these roles are now open. You can view how to apply here ( http://reddevilsarma.org/showthread.php?tid=294 ). If you apply for one of these roles please be aware the bar is set very high and we will take great consideration to who we choose. If you apply for Platoon Commander please also state whether or not Platoon Sergeant is something you would also be happy with.

If you have any questions, queries, concerns, or comments please get in touch.

Ready for Anything.

  Arma 2 Animations
Posted by: B. Horner - 04-04-2020, 08:24 PM - Replies (3)

This is a quick poll so people can give feedback on the A2 animations that were used in today's training. Positives and negatives are welcomed in replies if you would like to give more detail.

Update: the animations will be near impossible to mix and therefore we will have to come to the conclusion of the full package or not at all.

  Community Update No.11

Community Update No.11

30MAR20 1815 hrs UTC+0

Hello all! We have had a lot of people join us recently and in light of the current epidemic then we anticipate a few more to come our way. I'd like to request that people keep any jokes around this subject to a minimum as there may be members with friends or family affected by this outbreak.

The last community update was in January and since then we've finished our Ardennes operation, won two PvPs, and had three module IIIs - we've been pretty busy! Moving forward we have an Okinawa operation coming up that will last 4-5 weeks. The 4th and 5th of April will be dedicated to familiarisation with USMC equipment and also some new roles - not only new roles in terms of USMC organisation but also people will be able to switch around roles and try new roles during these events. I implore aspiring leaders to step up the challenge. During this time of Okinawa, we will continue our regular British Airborne events on the other days where there will be some normality with our sessions.

I request that all new NCOs reach out to myself to organise careers advisor and JNCO training so we can get you up to speed.

We have officially filled all open roles within Red Devils apart from two roles within B Company HQ, one role within No.4 Platoon HQ, and two pilot slots - all these slots are available for applications. We are now opening No.4 Platoon, No.4 Section. This new section will require NCOs before people begin to get placed in so please get your applications in following the usual path through "Enlisted Careers" on the forums (http://reddevilsarma.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=67). If anyone has any questions about an application please get in contact.

The overall plan for expansion in the future is to build up to at least three and a half active and full sections before opening up No.5 Platoon. Two sections from No.4 Platoon will likely be moved straight over - in their completeness - to the new platoon. Both platoons will then run with two sections until further expansion in the future.

For the NCOs: let's aim to get sections to their peak performance in the coming months. Ensure personnel are relaying all callouts, are familiar with all formations, and are competent with section-level tactics. We're in really good shape right now and I want to raise the bar again.

Thank you all for making Red Devils what it is and let's continue to push our limits.

  Role Interest Application
Posted by: B. Horner - 03-11-2020, 01:48 AM - Replies (3)

Hi all,

If any of you are looking for a specific role (leadership or otherwise) and the role is either not currently available, or you are not ready to apply yet, but you know you will want to apply for a role (or roles) in the future please PM me on these forums with your interest.

If you're looking for a leadership role please be specific about which role you actually would like to end up in (even Company Commander if that's where you want to see yourself). By the same token if you feel as though you'd prefer to step down from an NCO role, or even if you'd like to give 16PFA a try, just let me know.

This is meant to aid me in understanding your intentions long term within Red Devils.

Thanks,
